Worth considering if: you want a separate connection on each phone. Compare the selected plan’s allowance and hotspot conditions with your usage rather than choosing by group size alone.
Is Japan Wireless Legit?
Here's what's publicly verifiable about the company behind this eSIM.
Yes. Japan Wireless is operated by Inbound Platform Corp., a company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market (ticker: 5587) and registered as a licensed Tokyo travel agency. It's a real, publicly accountable business with a working storefront, published terms, and a Japan-based support contact — not an anonymous reseller.
Company information checked August 2026; plan information updated October 2026:
- Operated by Inbound Platform Corp., listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market (5587), founded 2015, headquartered in Shimbashi, Tokyo.
- Holds a Tokyo Metropolitan Government travel agent registration (No. 2-7989).
- Company, support, and contact information are published and reachable on japan-wireless.com.
- The 7-, 14- and 30-day 5G unlimited prices below match the published plan list reviewed October 11, 2026.
- Current official pages contain conflicting refund descriptions; see the warning below before paying.
- Independent reviews on Trustpilot: 4.6/5 from 784 reviews (as of August 2026). Japan Wireless's own site separately displays 4.5/5 from 1,378 reviews — that count is self-hosted on their own platform, not independently audited, so we're listing both and labeling which is which.

How It Compares: Japan Wireless vs Sakura Mobile eSIM
These are data-only eSIMs, not router rentals. Both providers sell plans described as unlimited, but hotspot allowances and fair-use terms differ.
Sakura lists specific hotspot amounts and current tax-inclusive JPY prices. Japan Wireless’s published USD price list does not give us a confirmed matching tax basis. Its plan text also describes a separate hotspot allowance whose quantity we could not verify.

Is It Right for You?
| Traveler type | Verdict | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Solo traveler | Consider an eSIM | Your own connection without a router to carry or return |
| Couple | Compare two plans | Two connections allow separate sightseeing; compare the final total with a router |
| Family / group | Consider Wi‑Fi | Compare costs and decide whether everyone will stay within router range |
| Need a Japanese number | Not suitable | Data-only. No voice number included |
| Phone doesn't support eSIM | Not suitable | Requires eSIM-compatible, unlocked phone |
FAQ
Can I buy this before I arrive in Japan?
Yes. Buy within 30 days of when you plan to activate it. Follow the selected plan’s setup instructions: the reviewed 5G plan activates on connection in Japan with data roaming enabled, and its FAQ counts each day as 24 hours from activation.
Does my phone support eSIM?
Most iPhones since iPhone XS support eSIM. Most flagship Android phones (Samsung, Google Pixel, etc.) released after 2020 also support eSIM. Check your phone's settings or manufacturer specs to confirm.
Is the data really unlimited?
The 5G plan is sold as unlimited, but the current specification allows temporary speed management for extremely heavy use under a fair-use policy. It also has a separate high-speed hotspot allowance. We have not confirmed numeric fair-use thresholds.
Can I use it as a hotspot?
Yes. The 5G plan supports hotspot sharing, with a high-speed allowance based on duration. After that allowance, hotspot speeds may be reduced. We could not confirm the allowance quantity in the reviewed text; ask the provider before relying on it for a laptop.
How does the 20% discount work?
The current page advertises 20% off one 5G Unlimited Exclusive eSIM and says the coupon is applied at checkout. We show published list prices without applying a further discount. Eligibility and the final amount are determined at checkout.
